Japanese geisha are well known worldwide for their mystery and beauty. When Victoria Tsai, founder of Tatcha, learned of a book published in Japan in 1813 that described 156 skin care ingredients and detailed instructions about how to use them, she was inspired to create a 4-step skin care regimen, or “ritual,” based on that of the geisha.

People by the millions have been singing the praises of Tatcha blotting papers since they first swiped one across their oily foreheads in 2009! Tatcha founder Victoria Tsai definitely proves that her phenomenal company is no one-hit wonder with the release of a full skin care line based on authentic Japanese beauty rituals!!

“To be clear, this is no Memoirs of a Geisha fantasy. Years of hard work, befriending Kyoto locals, and much sleuthing led Tsai to a 200-year-old text and a rare opportunity to meet with a real geisha girl (with skin so flawless, it brought the brand founder to tears).

Tsai enlisted scholars to translate the text and met with scientists who helped her formulate a base recipe of green tea, Okinawa red algae, and rice bran. The awesome result was a skin care collection spanning camellia cleansing oil, exfoliating enzyme powders, licorice-rich brightening serum, and a silky moisturizer!

When one looks at a Japanese ladies face, they see nothing but sheer beauty. You see perfectly gorgeous milky white flawless skin, and never notice a flaw in my personal experience. I am so jealous of their natural beauty, and often wondered why their skin was always perfect. After being able to review the Tatcha Japanese Skin Care products, I see why now!! Have you ever seen a geisha that had a blemish or pimple? I haven’t!

The newly launched skincare line centers around 4 key products; a 1-step Camellia Cleansing Oil, Rice Enzyme Powder, Brightening Serum and the Moisture Rich Silk Cream. Rather than load you down with unnecessary products, these are essentials perfect for every day use. The Camellia cleansing oil is lightweight, yet loaded with camellia and rice bran – ingredients filled with skin healing anti-oxidants.

For over 300 years, Japan’s geisha have been known for their beautiful, porcelain skin. TATCHA discovered their daily regimes in a 200-year-old manuscript. Tatcha has worked with teams of scientists, scholars and geisha themselves to decipher the rituals and ingredients from this text.

Their all-natural formulas carries the secrets of the geisha involving the most precious green teas, Okinawa red algae, rice bran and other time-tested ingredients.

My own personal main concern is redness on my cheeks and improving the overall texture of my skin without irritating it further as my skin is super sensitive. I think Tatcha is an excellent line (if not, the best one that I’ve tried) for these kinds of issues. The biggest improvement that I’ve seen thus far after a week’s usage is the reduction of redness and a clarity that hasn’t been there in years. It’s not instantaneous mind you and does not acheive your best look overnight in just one dose, but with continuous usage it does work, I promise you that. After just over one week some lingering spots have healed and lightened! Tatcha Japanese Skin Care & Beauty Products rock, believe me!!
