CoolCanucks Blog Contest ~ Splendipity Organic Ultra Soft Blanket and Burp Cloth Gift Set Giveaway!!

Saturday, May 5th, 2012

The colourful aesthetic and heartwarming ethic of Splendipity was born out of the talent and dedication of one creative mom, Susan Kiley. Over the years, Splendipity has matured, refining the essentials of its charter mission and blossoming into an extraordinary force in the children’s organic product line.

Splendipity’s items are so soft, and made from Organic cotton. The cotton in the blanket and burp cloth set that I received to review feels like it is double sided, with an extremely soft fleece type feeling on the inside.

Splendipity’s items are definitely made of high quality which lasts not only through every day washes but also through several kids! You can shop comfortably online from the comfort of your own home where everything is so neatly categorized on their website to make shopping with them a complete snap! You will also find that their prices are extremely low and reasonable, which is an added bonus!!

They use organic cotton that conveys the company’s dedication to workmanship, creativity and global social responsibility. Not only are these items fashionable, they are also eco-friendly! Also, 5% of all profits are generous given to various children’s charities, with SIDS being their top charity.

“Our number one commitment is our continual support of SIDS, a wonderful non-profit organization that works to reduce the risk of future infant deaths, support families who have suffered a loss, and fund medical research so that no new families have to endure the pain of losing an infant.”

I give Splendipity a huge thumbs up, and recommend them to everyone!! Their customer service skills as well as delivery time were also beyond outstanding for the Organic Ultra Soft Blanket and Burp Cloth Gift Set that they sent me to review! One cannot ever go wrong shopping at Splendipity, be assured!

CoolCanucks Blog Contest ~ EcoMom LOVE Reusable Bags Chill Set Review & Giveaway!!CLOSED

Saturday, June 11th, 2011

logo

Nothing will motivate you more than to start living a greener life quite like parenthood. Suddenly the planet is no longer yours, it belongs to the little people, the ones who need to swim and climb trees and run through the grass just like you did.

If it’s not good enough for you or your baby, then it’s not good enough for the environment either. EcoMom, an Eco-Friendly Baby Products company, was founded to address the connection between the health of our environment and the health of our children. EcoMom is committed to making eco-conscious living easy, affordable, and rewarding.

eco

EcoMom has an extensive selection of eco-conscious products and there is certainly something for everyone, even if you just want to try something new, like a counter top compost pail for your kitchen. EcoMom offers a variety of eco-friendly baby products including organic baby and toddler food, organic cotton clothing, wood toys, green cleaning products, all natural bath and body products for mom and baby, and so much more!!

ec

Founded in August of 2008, EcoMom was created by moms, professionals, and those who fall into both categories. The goal was to create a resource where moms could shop for healthy, eco-friendly products that would promote wellbeing in their children. Based out of Los Angeles, California, EcoMom was founded by Balaji Gopinath and Jody Sherman. Today, the EcoMom team has expanded to include many others along with a growing community and large database of green products for the family.

Parents that prefer to purchase environmentally friendly, health conscious products can appreciate EcoMom. The site is a large collection of items that fall into these categories, including edible and non-edible merchandise. Many other online retailers offer some of the same products; however EcoMom brings them all together into one convenient shopping location.

ec1

EcoMom sent me a fabulous LOVE Reusable Bags Chill Set in Cosmic Stripes pattern and I totally love it!! I was wishing I had this wonderful insulated set with me while in Jamaica a few weeks ago, it sure would have come in handy!! They have a matching set of 3 reusable shopping totes that tuck neatly into a 4th insulated cooler bag. The LOVE Reusable Bags Chill Set is great because you not only have your reusable totes but also a cooler for meats, and frozen foods plus hot foods too, while you get all your errands run without spoilage of food.  The totes are machine washable and sturdy and hold up to 60lbs.  These totes stand alone for easy loading and unloading and are equipped with 3 mesh pockets for storage and a shoulder strap for comfort!!

ecc

CoolCanucks Blog Contest ~ Lit Cosmetics Review & Giveaway!!CLOSED

Friday, May 27th, 2011

These glitter cosmetics are truly amazing. I would reccommend them to anyone! I have owned other big brand name Glitter’s and none of them even come close compared to Lit cosmetics glitter. First of all the glitter is VERY pigmented, and they are very true to colour. This is what I seen in the package that I received. I was very excited!!

The Amazing thing about the Lit cosmetics Glitter Base is that it really does NOT allow the glitter to crease on your eyes. And It can also be used as a base for eyeshadows which is what I tried for a day and your eyeshadow lasts all day and night (until you take it off of course.) It enhances the colours of the eyeshadows, and I have also used it under my blush and it works with that as well! This is amazing! I love this stuff!! I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND this to anyone who loves glitter and wants it to last all day long!

Lit cosmetics insists that with No Glitter there is No Glory!!  Start your LIT experience off with one of their great kits that include everything you need to add some glitz your look right up!  These natural, water-based products are alcohol, paraben and Propylene Glycol free.  LIT Cosmetics are hypoallergenic and ideal for sensitive skin. This fun, exciting product is easy to use and suitable for everyone.  Bring some sparkle to any party with LIT Cosmetics or put them on your giving list for someone special and deserving!

Lit Cosmetics glitter is amazing because unlike other glitter bases this one is completely organic, and when it’s on you don’t even feel the glitter is there. No sticky, itchy, fly everywhere mess. Best of all the patented water-based glitter base will last you for years. It’s a bang for your buck and a real definate “must have.” They have the best cosmetics out there by far! Also note: shipping is just $10 anywhere in the world!

Who Should Wear Lit Cosmetics
Our “target market” is virtually everyone. Lit products are practical for all ages, both sexes and every skin tone. Our products are worn by every generation: daughters, mothers, and grandmothers all wear Lit! You will fall in love after the first application and really what it comes down to is: “girls just wanna have fun!”

Along with everyday wear, Lit Cosmetics is perfect for:

•Figure skaters
•Dancers
•Theatre performers
•Circus performers
•Cheerleaders
•Face painting
•Costume parties
•Holidays
•And much more!

HISTORY
The Birth of Lit Cosmetics
The idea for Lit has roots back in 2001 when Jodie Perks, the owner/inventor of Lit Cosmetics, was slinging drinks in the night clubs around Calgary. Having always been a fan of fun makeup and a little “bling, bling”, Jodie felt the need to be a little different from the rest of the girly girls serving up drinks. That’s when she hit on the idea of glitter eye makeup!

The basic concept was simple; sparkles give a look of optimum colour intensity and light reflection at all times of the day and into the night. Jodie had finally hit on a cool makeup to match her flashy personality!

After looking into the products on the market there was surprisingly no decent glitter eye shadows to be found, thus Jodie was forced to take matters into her own hands and began experimenting. Long hours and months of testing in her “top secret” basement lab evaluating the pros and cons of all other glitter products she exposed a number of flaws, the most obvious being the application process and the adhesive. With time and determination, Jodie developed a wonderful adhesive that holds, is comfortable and keeps the brilliant shine of the glitter, as well as a whole new application process for an exciting loose colour cosmetic line. Since 2001, Lit Cosmetics is now not only a bar-star product but has grown into a makeup that can be worn by anyone of any age at anytime—and that’s how Lit was born!

Why Lit is Different
“No glitter, no glory” is our motto—fun, yet true. Being in “glitterology” (the science of glitter) for 6 years we have improved glitter/loose colour makeup as it is sold in the market today. With our liquid adhesive now perfected, we have also broken down our pigments into 4 different sizes and 4 different varieties-Lit simply specializes in glitter/loose colour makeup. Remember: There are no rules when it comes to Lit! From a single colour highlighter to having 10 shades blended over your eyelids-we dare you… Let the fun begin, and your creativity soar!

What is the Vision of Lit Cosmetics?
Other than wanting to “glitter the world” it has always been our dream to change the way people perceive or think about glitter makeup. Our vision was to create a good quality, sexy new makeup line unlike any other that is fun, exciting, easy to use and suitable for everyone. Whether it’s a day at the office or a special night out, glitter is the perfect compliment to your look. Get noticed, get confident — get Lit!

A Note To Customers
Hello fellow Lit Chicks and we can’t forget about those Lit Dudes out there, it is now time to have fun and be creative with your make-up, accessories and fashion—to realize that girls do just want to have fun, as Cyndi Lauper preached to us in the 80’s. Life is way too short to be boring or to simply be bored. Don’t be one of those girls who says, “Oh, that looks great on her but I could never pull it off.” You know who you are, and there are a lot of you because I hear it every single day! So don’t be blocked by yourself, break though and be bold, be beautiful. This next bit of information may sound a little odd but it’s true, and all the present glitter girls of the world know this little secret and I believe in it as well: glitter is good for the soul. Something happens when you add a little glitter to your day. It gives you a smile, a good energy and just pumps you up and makes you feel glam, bam, thank you ma’am! So give Lit Cosmetics a try and enjoy everything you get out of it, like I have for the past 11 years! My final piece of advice for you is to stay young and try not to take things so seriously all the time, there is no age limit for glitter so you old gals like myself get it goin’ on and always remember, “no glitter, no glory!”

The very kind and generous folks over at Lit Cosmetics have graciously offered to give 1 very lucky CoolCanucks reader the chance to win a Mini Me Lit Kit! SWEET!!

CoolCanucks Review of Organically Grown 100% Organic Cotton Baby Girl Onesie!

Tuesday, April 19th, 2011

Have you ever actually felt 100% organic cotton clothes? They are unbelievably soft. And, just the mere fact of knowing you have done the environment some good gives you a sense of responsibility. Organic cotton clothes are made from organic cotton, which is cotton produced, or harvested, without any pesticides, chemical fertilizers, or genetically modified (GMO) seeds.

People buy organic clothes for a lot of different reasons. Some people buy organic clothing because it makes them feel better knowing that they are doing something maintain their health and the planets health. Others buy them because they possess more aesthetic appeal. The difference between natural fabric and unnatural fabric is the way it has been grown. Cotton that is grown with the use of pesticides is considered unhealthy and hazardous to the environment and human health in general.

When people use pesticides to grow their plants, they are harming more than many of us realize. The chemicals from pesticides can easily seep into the ground and get into our drinking water, which is why there are so many warnings about drinking tap water. Everyone should buy organic clothing because it helps to make a statement to sellers. Did you know that cotton is currently the most widely sprayed crop in the world? There is no other plant in existence that is as weighed down with pesticides as cotton.

Organically Grown Baby– a new line of high quality, 100% organic baby clothing are irresistibly adorable and you will want to have your baby wear them!

Organically Grown Baby apparel line comes in sizes newborn to 9 months and is made from super-soft brushed jersey and terry velour organic cotton. Their adorable three piece sets consist of baby gowns, body suits, jackets, pants, blankets and hats that are affordably priced from $20-$38!

Organically Grown is a 100% certified organic cotton lifestyle brand that brings safe, affordable organic worker friendly products to the global marketplace.

Organically Grown Group has moved beyond baby clothing. They now have divisions for:

•Children
•Men
•Women
•Home décor

The company believes strongly in the concept of organic fabrics, as well as educating consumers about the benefits of an organic lifestyle. Their organic line of baby clothing is considered to be high quality as well as affordable by most consumers.

Their entire collection of baby clothing is made of 100% organic cotton.

Organically Grown sent me a 100% Organic Cotton Baby Girl Onesie to review, and it is beyond fabulous! So soft, so adorable, so cuddly!! Little Caleigh looks so stylish and eco-chic!

I am totally impressed with Organically Grown, and they get a huge thumbs up from me! Their customer service skills as well as delivery time were beyond outstanding as well!!

Be sure to become their Facebook Friend by clicking here, or even follow them on twitter for new and upcoming specials and deals!

CoolCanucks Blog Contest ~ Raw Gaia Organic Skin Care Review & Giveaway!!CLOSED

Wednesday, March 23rd, 2011

Raw Gaia is the world’s first range of living skin care products.

Everything they make is organic, cruelty-free vegan and free from any chemicals. They only use truly natural ingredients such as organic cold-pressed butters and oils, essential oils and floral waters.

They make all their products by hand, through a special low temperature process. In this way, their products retain all the life energy, antioxidants, vitamins and minerals in the ingredients.

Because their skin care products have a living quality to them and they are absolutely pure, they are really good for the skin and have wonderful moisturising and nourishing qualities. They’ve had an amazing response ever since they started and in fact, their products have been featured in many magazines including Organic Life, Top Sante, Vogue, Brand New You, Natural Health, Women’s Fitness, Positive Health and Lifescape. Their products are available through their online store and in many health food shops, online stores and beauty salons, in over 14 countries!

Raw Gaia is a company built on solid ethical, environmental and animal welfare principles. They are also the first skin care company in the world to have adopted an “ethical marketing” approach to beauty and ageing.
Try Raw Gaia and experience the nourishment that only something as natural, alive and pure as Mother Earth can give!

I was sent to review their amazing MSM Beauty Cream and it is absolutely phenomenal!

“A magical cream that helps to promote a vibrant and smooth complexion MSM Beauty Cream is especially good for mature skin, damaged tissue and heals scars since it is made primarily of MSM, known as The Beauty Mineral (read more about MSM).

Ingredients: In addition to MSM, Raw Gaia’s MSM Beauty Cream is made with:

Wildcrafted myrrh essential oil, well-known for its cooling and healing properties
(* denotes cold-pressed)

Suitable for all skin types, especially good for mature, tired or damaged skin.

Here are some comments from people that have tried the MSM Beauty Cream:

“Thanks to the MSM Beauty Cream, my skin now feels really soft. Some of the blemishes on my skin and dark patches under my eyes have gone. My skin also feels firmer.” Julie, London

“After using it just once my skin felt softer and smoother, it’s fantastic! It’s fabulous to know you are using something so natural and so in harmony with Mother Earth.” Tina, N E Lincolnshire

For Best Results: Use a very small amount at first. You will gradually find the amount that works best for you. To give your face a nice silky feel you can either apply the moisturiser to a wet face or mist one of our floral waters after applying.

Please note that the MSM Beauty Cream may feel slightly gritty when you first use it. This is normal and simply due to the MSM flakes in the cream which are quickly and easily absorbed into the skin where they do their wonderful job!

Please note: Pregnant women should not use this cream since it contains essential oil of myrrh, which is said to cause uterine contractions.”

You now have the opportunity to try out this great MSM Beauty Cream for yourself thanks to the very kind and generous folks over at Raw Gaia!

CoolCanucks Blog Contest ~ Preston Cosmetics North American Hemp Co. Review & Giveaway!!CLOSED

Tuesday, February 15th, 2011

Natural skin care is the care of the skin (the largest organ of the body) using naturally-derived ingredients (such as herbs, roots, essential oils and flowers) combined with naturally occurring carrier agents, preservatives, surfactants, humectants and emulsifiers (everything from natural soap to oils to pure water). The classic definition of natural skin care is based on using botanically sourced ingredients currently existing in or formed by nature, without the use of synthetic chemicals, and manufactured in such a way to preserve the integrity of the ingredients.

As a result of this definition, many people who use natural skin care products, turn to Preston Cosmetics for their all-natural cosmetics and environmentally friendly personal care products.

Preston Cosmetics currently carries the ever popular brand called “North American Hemp Co.” as to which all of these fantastic products are currently available to purchase. High quality cosmetics at unbelievably low prices!! North American Hemp Co. is the first all natural personal care products made with certified organic hemp seed oil!

Preston Cosmetics is thrilled to announce 2 wonderful brands launching in the Spring/Summer of 2011 called “Hush” — the natural evolution of salon professional hair care, and “Boo Bamboo” — Nature’s fastest growing plant has been harnessed into a collection of hair products that’s guarenteed to make your hair strong and gloriously shiny in no time flat!!

In the Fall of 2011 be sure to watch for Preston Cosmetics — products that are renewable, rare, exotic, and miraculous!! How exciting!!!

Cosmetics nowadays are considered for both men and women. Natural and organic cosmetics are fast becoming a trend in the industry. “Going green” for the environment has influenced the lifestyle of many people including their choice of make up, cosmetics, and skin care products.

Ideally and in general, all-natural and organic cosmetics are not tested in animals and they do not contain chemicals. Constant use of chemical-based make up on the face or skin can be harmful. Natural cosmetics contain plant oils and extracts, barks, spices and different oils from flowers. Elimination of unnatural elements from your face and body can improve your complexion and skin condition.

Organic cosmetics appear the same as chemically-based cosmetics. They also come in various colours and can enhance a woman’s beauty. The advantages of using natural make up include healthier skin and better complexion. The difference will become noticeable as you continue to use pure organic cosmetics. Do your own research and discover the benefits of using natural beauty products for your face and body.

Preston Cosmetics was extremely kind and generous in sending me a huge box filled with fabulous products from North American Hemp Co.! I was ecstatic when it arrived and saw all of the great products in that box!

Included was hemp hangnail helper — hand & nail cream, linoleic line lifting face cream, area 369 hair serum, organic oil oasis scented body oil mist, smooth cleanse smoothing shampoo, and smooth seal smoothing conditioner, all in full size!!!!! Also included were many trial sized samples of the shampoo, conditioner and area 369 hair serum to make travelling much easier!! I was beyond impressed with the generous amount they sent me to try, and the delivery time and customer service skills were also outstanding!!

Hemp is one of the most versatile plants known. It can be grown in most climates, is drought resistant, requires little fertiliser, minimal pesticides or herbicides, and has a range of uses. The seeds can be used as food and fodder, and can be processed to produce hemp oil. The stalks provide fibre for textiles, clothing, rope, paper and building products. The bulk of the woody stalks can be used for paper, animal bedding, and plastics. The hemp plant biomass can be used to produce fuel. Anything that trees/timber can be used to produce, hemp can produce and more, including house construction!!

I give Preston Cosmetics a huge thumbs up, and definately recommend them to everyone!

The very kind and generous folks over at Preston Cosmetics have graciously offered to give 1 VERY LUCKY CoolCanucks reader the chance to win the exact same box chock full of items from North American Hemp Co. that I was sent to review! SWEET!!

CoolCanucks Blog Contest ~ Nature’s Path Organic Foods Love Crunch Cereal Review & Giveaway!!CLOSED

Sunday, February 13th, 2011

SPREADING THE LOVE ONE SPOONFUL AT A TIME

Nature’s Path Empowers Consumers to Fight Against Hunger with New Love Crunch Granola

Richmond, BC– Where’s the love? Nature’s Path Organic Foods is supporting Food Banks Canadaby bringing the love to your breakfast table, and to people in need across the country.  Nature’s Path Love Crunch, a delicious dark chocolate granola, is a limited edition cereal that helps consumers take part in the fight against hunger.  Inspired by a true-life love story and philanthropic endeavor, for each box of Nature’s Path Love Crunch sold, another box is donated to Food Banks Canada*.

Born out of love and a passion for both cereal and philanthropy, Love Crunch was created by Arjan Stephens, Executive VP of Sales and Marketing for Nature’s Path and son of Nature’s Path’s founder, and his wife, Rimjhim as a wedding favor for those who helped celebrate their marriage.  In lieu of wedding gifts, the two asked that their guests do a volunteer community project and post to a project page which they aptly named “The Experience Giving Project.”  The result was countless acts of kindness and good in local communities worldwide.

The couple and Nature’s Path then joined forces to bring this wedding favor to life as a tasty cereal that will help change our communities one spoonful at a time.   “We at Nature’s Path are so excited to see this project come to life as it is near and dear to our hearts,” said Arjan Stephens, Vice President of Marketing and Product Innovation for Nature’s Path.  “By purchasing Love Crunch you can experience giving by helping fellow Canadians who are struggling to put food on their tables.”

Nature’s Path Love Crunch is the perfect marriage between the whole grain goodness of flax granola; the sweetness of strawberries and the tartness of raspberries; and the decadence of coconut and dark chocolate chunks.  Like all Nature’s Path products, it is certified organic, which means it doesn’t contain artificial preservatives, additives, genetically modified organism (GMOs) or synthetic pesticides.  Love Crunch also bears the new Non GMO Project Verified Seal, which lets consumers know that the product has passed a rigorous, independent verification process and is the best choices in order to avoid genetically modified organisms (GMOs).

About Food Banks Canada

*Donation up to $35,000

Did you know?: Nature’s Path has raised over $300,000 in cash and food for the Greater Vancouver and Richmond food banks through their annual Compassion Into Action fundraiser. In 2010 we donated a total of $1,000,000 in cash and food products to food banks across North America.

Did you know?:  Nature’s Path recently purchased 2,240 acres of fertile Saskatchewan farmland while partnering with local organic farmers on a cooperative crop-share basis. This represents our latest initiative to increase organic cropland and support family farms.

Cereals and grains play a large part in most people’s diets. Cereals can be both nutritious and delicious.

What is “organic”? Organic means food that is grown without the use of pesticides, herbicides and chemical fertilizers.

Why eat organic vs. conventional grown foods?

Some reasons are:
•higher nutritional content
•less toxins
•better quality
•better taste

I had the extreme pleasure of being able to review this new Love Crunch Cereal from Nature’s Path Organic Foods and it is beyond scumptious! Right down to the bottom of the box our entire family went in just a matter of 2 days!! IT IS that tasty!!!!! It certainly is the BEST Organic Cereal we have ever tasted!

You too have the opportunity to try this wonderful cereal as well, as the very kind and generous folks over at Nature’s Path Organic Foods have graciously offered to give two boxes away to 1 very lucky CoolCanucks reader! SWEET!!!!!

CoolCanucks Review of Organically Grown Organic Cotton Boys “Polar Bear Stripes” Coverall!

Wednesday, December 15th, 2010

Organically Grown sent me an Organic Cotton Boys “Polar Bear Stripes” Coverall to review, and it is beyond fabulous! So soft, so adorable, so cuddly!! Little Sammy looks so stylish and eco-chic!

“Winter-ready stripped coverall with a cute polar bear embroidered on the belly. Long sleeved with layered look. Free of toxins and chemicals to keep your baby safe, and softer than ever before. Comes with decorative padded hanger and 100% cotton guaranteed. You will feel good buying, your baby will feel good wearing it! Makes a wonderful gift as well!”

I am totally impressed with Organically Grown, and they get a huge thumbs up from me! Their customer service skills as well as delivery time were beyond outstanding as well!!

Be sure to become their Facebook Friend by clicking here, or even follow them on twitter for new and upcoming specials and deals!

CoolCanucks Blog Contest ~ Miss Malaprop Review & $50 Gift Certificate Giveaway!!CLOSED

Wednesday, August 11th, 2010

Miss Malaprop owner and founder Mallory Whitfield is a proud resident of New Orleans, Louisiana. Miss Malaprop features many gifts inspired by New Orleans and made by New Orleans based artists. Miss Malaprop is currently donating a percentage of all sales (both online & in person events) to help with cleanup efforts related to the recent Gulf of Mexico BP oil spill disaster which makes me so proud!!

Miss Malaprop is where modern handmade meets sustainable design. On my website, I spotlight the best in independent designers & artists, eco-friendly and sustainable products, New Orleans & Gulf Coast based businesses and issues, and people & organizations who are working to make the world a better place.

“My own creations reflect those same principals. I began selling my creations under the name “dismantled designs” in 2004, after arriving home from a study abroad program in London where I saw the amazing artists at Portobello Market and where I was inspired to begin selling my own reconstructed clothing & accessories.

My designs are all one-of-a-kind, handmade and original. Most are made from used or vintage clothing, or remnant fabrics and trims. Each piece is meant to have a slightly unfinished, rough-hewn, well-loved look about it. I hope you enjoy!”

Shopping at Miss Malaprop is a complete snap, as everything is so neatly categorized on the left all at extremely low, unbeatable prices!!
