CoolCanucks Blog Contest ~ Tropical Traditions Organic Virgin Coconut Oil Review & Giveaway!!CLOSED

Friday, June 11th, 2010

Coconut oil is both a healthy and great-tasting addition to smoothies, shakes, and other yummy treats. Thanks to Tropical Traditions, you get nothing but the best!

Tropical Traditions Coconut Oil is one of the first virgin coconut oils to be exported to the United States from the Philippines.

Brian Shilhavy (founder of Tropical Traditions) discovered the health benefits of coconut oil after moving to live in the Philippines with his wife, Marianita. He believes that coconut oil made by traditional methods is superior to the modern coconut oils found in stores.

Tropical Traditions offers 3 types of coconut oil:

1. Gold Label Certifed Organic Coconut Oil
2. Tropical Traditions Green Label Organic Coconut Oil
3. Tropical Traditions Expeller-pressed Coconut Oil

I found the oil to have a very rich coconut flavor, tantalizing to the tastebuds.  I even tried mixing a tablespoon of this oil into my cup of coffee (try it, you’ll like it!) and it melted instantly! When I used the oil as an after-shower skin moisturizer it absorbed quickly and smoothly, leaving my skin soft, smooth and healthier-looking (not to mention smelling heavenly!) The uses for Coconut Oil are amazing, did you know that you can even cook with Coconut Oil?? I did not know that until recently! See all of the great recipes on the Tropical Traditions website by clicking here! We made a batch of banana chocolate chip muffins with with the coconut oil instead of butter or oil and they were beyond just delicious!

“Virgin Coconut Oil is a food, and is one of the best cooking oils you can use. It has been a staple cooking oil for thousands of years in tropical climates. As a cooking oil, its chemical structure is kept in tact and therefore is resistant to mutations of fatty acid chains even when used in higher cooking temperatures, unlike most vegetable oils. Research shows that the medium chain fatty acids found in coconut oil boosts the body’s metabolism, raises body temperatures, and helps provide greater energy which can lead to weight loss.”

Here is a picture of a gentleman transporting organic coconuts far away from the pollution of any city or roads in the rural mountain areas of Mt. Banahaw in the Philippines, in preparation to make Tropical Traditions Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil:

This grade of coconut oil can be applied directly to the skin for conditioning. It is great for eliminating dandruff. As a cooking oil, its chemical structure is kept intact and therefore is resistant to mutations of fatty acid chains even when used in higher cooking temperatures, unlike most vegetable oils.

I definately give Tropical Traditions a huge thumbs up, and recommend this great Coconut Oil to everyone!

DISCLAIMER: Tropical Traditions provided me with a free sample of this product to review, and I was under no obligation to review it if I so chose.  Nor was I under any obligation to write a positive review or sponsor a product giveaway in return for the free product.

CoolCanucks Blog Contest ~ Basa Body 100% Fresh & Natural Skincare Review & Giveaway!!CLOSED

    Sunday, May 2nd, 2010

One word to say about Basa Body products — AMAZING!!

I was beyond ecstatic when the kind folks over at Basa Body agreed to a review & giveaway here at CoolCanucks!!

Basa Body is 100% Fresh & Natural Skincare. Their all-natural products are infused with organic virgin coconut oil to nourish, hydrate and rejuvenate your skin.  They strive to keep their coconut body products 100% natural with no artificial ingredients– this means no alcohol, no petroleum products, no artificial colors or parabens. Their coconut oil body lotion is great for sensitive or dry skin. Their Basa Stick is made from 100% natural coconut oil, and soaps are made with the finest natural ingredients. Most lotions use water to temporarily smooth your skin, but when the water evaporates, the skin is left as dry or drier than it was before. Basa Body products actually help the skin heal. They are confident your skin will love their all natural wonderful organic products for the body, face, and hands.

I was sent their very famous Basa BUSU: “Kiss” Gift Pack to review, and the results after usage were totally fantastic! Not only does the Natural Coconut Oil Body Lotion smell extremely heavenly, it leaves your skin feeling so soft and smooth!

Their Natural Coconut Oil Healing Balm (Basa Body Stick) soothes, softens, and protects irritated, cracked and dry skin, such as that on my right ankle. A few uses of this product made my ankle noticably softer and appeared to get rid of that dry skin that surrounded it!

Both of the Basa Body Soaps were wonderful! They came in two fabulous scents — Raspberries and Cream, and Mint Chocolate Truffle. Insanely Heavenly!! I can hardly wait to order more and stock up on these great Basa Body Products!!

Your purchase of Basa Body’s coconut body lotion and beauty products is not only the best choice for your skin, but every item sold helps rural Kenyans work their way out of poverty!

What an excellent company! Their customer service skills as well as delivery time were also completely outstanding!! I give this company a huge thumbs up, and recommend that everyone try these phenomenal products!!
