Are you obsessed with bacon like me? Would you eat any­thing as long as it has bacon it? I know I love it that much and would, and did!

Spread­able, smoked, bacony good­ness in a jar. Orig­i­nally cre­ated by a mobile restau­rant in Seat­tle, Skil­let Bacon Jam has even been fea­tured on the Martha Stew­art Show! They use niman ranch bacon and ren­der it down along with onions, bal­samic and other spices for sev­eral hours until it’s per­fect for spread­ing on all your favorite foods, such as sand­wiches,  toast, the pos­si­bil­i­ties are really endless!!

I had the absolute plea­sure of being able to review this Skil­let Bacon Jam, and hubby was all over it even more than me!!

The jam’s cre­ator, Josh Hen­der­son, spent a good four years per­fect­ing the mar­malade and serves it, “spe­cial sauce” style, on the sig­na­ture burg­ers he fires up at Skil­let Street Food, his fleet of food trucks (Airstreams, to be pre­cise) in Seat­tle. Sure, the CIA grad turned caterer deserves proper credit, but the best thing to hap­pen to sliced bread since sliced bread wouldn’t exist with­out Sang Yoon, the man behind the burger-’n’-beer bas­tion Father’s Office in Santa Mon­ica, Calif., where Hen­der­son dined when he lived in those parts. Yoon decks out his pat­ties with caramelized onions, bacon com­pote and dabs of blue cheese, a combo that inspired the Wash­ing­ton State con­coc­tion. Hen­der­son was more inter­ested in the porky, funky end of that fla­vor pro­file than its sweeter, oniony side, but, make no mis­take, this does qual­ify as jam.

Skil­let Bacon Jam is excel­lent on slices of toma­toes, plopped on a warm bis­cuit, stirred into a bowl of beans or spread on top of a cheese­burger. Or you can just grab a spoon and dig into your jar!

But best of all, it’s superb for shar­ing. You’ll soon see—nothing makes a friend’s face light up more then when you pass them a jar and say, “Here, have a taste. It’s Skil­let bacon jam!”
