Walking down a grocery store aisle can certainly be daunting by all means. There are so many choices, including prepackaged miracle meals in minutes that are extremely hard to resist. But when you’re feeding the toddler you love, your best bet is to start with the freshest and most wholesome foods around. Obvious stuff to avoid: chemicals, preservatives, artificial flavors and colours, and too much sodium and sugar. Back in the day we didn’t think twice about giving our child natural foods, but instead most of us scrambled to the store to buy up the jarred baby food as it was so quick and easy. Nowadays, many parents are switching to natural foods such as those of local fresh fruit and veggies, also lean poultry and many other ground up lean meats, ensuring that the child get’s enough nutrients.  The jarred baby food seems to be out for the most part, as tons of mother’s prepare freshly pureed and ground up meals for their little ones.

Many of my nieces are new mothers, and totally believe in feeding their toddlers only organic and natural foods today.

Children typically love the mashes and purees, cereals and natural foods and start directly on the foods their parents consume, enjoying the full range of textures, flavors and nuances of food from the very beginning which is wonderful!
