CoolCanucks Blog Contest ~ Dog Trots Globe — To Paris & Provence (Hardcover book) Review & Giveaway!!
Posted on August 20th, 2012 by roxxyroller in CoolCanucks Blog Contest, Giveaways Canada.
This is the story of Chula, a Shetland Sheepdog who travels to France, from California, at the grand old age of nine. It chronicles her adventures from Provence, to Paris, and back home again. There is even a handy hints and tips for travelling on an aeroplane with a dog which is extremely helpful!! This book was written about Chula’s point of view when travelling.
As a pet owner, I could really appreciate the humorous slant that the dog’s perspective gives.
Dog Trots Globe – To Paris & Provence does what every travel book aspires to: it convinces a reader who has never visited a place to want to go and evokes memories in those who have already been there. Toss in over 150 colorful photographs and a beautiful Shetland Sheepdog and you have an enchanting travel book!!
Author Sherry Long is not at all unfamiliar to Pet travel. 8 years ago she started traveling across country with her then 9-month-old Sheltie, Chula, getting her accustomed to and comfortable with the new experiences that occur on a daily basis while traveling with your prescious dog, your best friend!
As overseas travel with dogs appears to be sprouting wings (thankfully), Sherry has come out with a book on her experience traveling to and in France – or should I say her dog Chula has? I personally detest leaving my dogs at home when I am off traveling, and yearn for them every single day that I am without them!! Dog Trots Globe is one dog’s view on the wonders of the markets, the fields and the sausages of Provence and the somewhat less joie de vivre experience of Paris due to limits on where you can take your dog. Dogs are not allowed to experience art at the Louvre, but most restaurants will allow them to dine inside if you ask prior to visiting!!
Chula endured a bit of a walk on the wild side, boldly snatching a baguette from a shopper’s bag as the delicious aroma must have been too tempting! Every day was a new adventure – even the scary one in the South of France involving thousands of animals Chula had never seen before, and that was a bit much for her according to Sherry, but Chula gamely conquered her fears when she met these creatures later in the countryside!
This book is not dull or boring, that’s for sure!! Pack with the most excellent adventures, I recommend that everyone own a copy!!
You can find this phenomenal book called Dog Trots Globe at Amazon and iTunes in book, e-book or enhanced e-book formats. The research and extensive information on pet travel to France and the preparation that involves is at the publisher’s site.
Now retired, Sherry Long founded and directed The Hampton-Brown Company, a ” leading publisher of language and literacy materials” K-12. She served as CEO for National Geographic School Publishing after National Geographic bought the company in 2006.
I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.
