CoolCanucks Review of Pink Blush Maternity!

Friday, May 31st, 2013

One of the biggest joys in a woman’s life is finding out that she is pregnant. This is truly a blessing from God, and a joyful experience. One of the hardest things to do when you are pregnant is finding stylish maternity clothes that fit as that little miracle is growing inside you. You certainly don’t want to give up your fashionable clothing during those nine months, and thanks to Pink Blush Maternity, you don’t have to!!

Pink Blush Maternity carries stylish, high quality maternity clothes with really inexpensive price tags! As so many of you already know, Maternity clothes can be expensive, especially when you consider that you’ll wear them for only a few short months. Pink Blush Maternity sells designer maternity clothes at a fraction of the cost that you would find at just about any maternity store out there!

Finding both stylish and comfortable attire can almost be impossible. Pink Blush Maternity boasts an extensive array of trendy maternity clothes from pants & shorts to the best maternity tops, dresses and jeans that are funky and fun, but that are most importantly extremely affordable. Their entire line of maternity clothing is amazing, and I was sent a gorgeous top for my niece who is currently pregnant.

This maternity top is literally oh so chic and stylish! She chose to review the Teal Overlay Maternity Tank Top and it honestly blew us away! It looked so pretty on their website, but to see it up close and in person is definitely a must as the pictures honestly do not do these phenomenal clothes justice!! Here is where you will literally find cheap maternity clothes without breaking the bank!

Shop at Pink Blush Maternity where you will find the best maternity clothing and discover distinct styles that are both fashionable and comfortable.

I certainly recommend that you shop at Pink Blush Maternity from the comfort of your own home. Everything is so neatly categorized on their website to make shopping online with them a complete snap!!

CCFC and AbbVie Awarding Scholarships to Empower Students Living with IBD

Friday, May 31st, 2013

Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of Canada and AbbVie Corporation Awarding Scholarships to Empower Seven Incredible Youth with IBD

Nominations now being accepted for Second Annual Scholarship Program that rewards remarkable students living with Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis.

Canada has one of the highest reported prevalence of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) in the world and 20–30% of people with IBD are diagnosed before the age of 20*. To support Canadian students living with IBD and raise awareness about this chronic disease, the AbbVie IBD Scholarship Program  is accepting nominations from young people living with IBD.

In partnership with the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of Canada (CCFC), the AbbVie IBD Scholarship Program is designed to award students who are living well with IBD, and strive to sustain an optimal level of wellness allowing them to excel while inspiring others to do the same. Through an unrestricted educational grant by AbbVie, CCFC will extend seven (7) one-time scholarships of up to $5,000 CAN to students living with IBD who are entering into or are currently attending a post-secondary educational institution. Students of all ages are welcome to apply and the scholarship can be used for any Canadian post-secondary institution.  “I am committed to living each day to the fullest and I’m so grateful to the CCFC and AbbVie for giving me the opportunity and inspiration to push harder and help me excel at my academic goals,” says Clinton Shard, one of seven (7) 2012 “gutsy” scholarship winners. “While the monetary scholarship provides an incentive, it also represents an investment in assisting students living with IBD and helping us achieve our dreams.”

Through initiatives such as the scholarship program, AbbVie aims to continue accelerating the recognition of the burden of IBD and help further the global dissemination of evolving approaches to better care for people living with IBD.

“AbbVie is proud to partner again this year with CCFC for the AbbVie IBD Scholarship Program. This initiative is a great example of a partnership that makes a difference in people’s lives,” states Felipe Pastrana, General Manager of AbbVie Canada. “While our name, AbbVie, has changed – our commitment to the IBD community endures. Over the years, AbbVie has shown continued commitment to people living with IBD by helping organizations and health care providers alike better understand the impact of these diseases on people’s lives. AbbVie recognizes the need for better disease diagnosis and monitoring to help improve the lives of millions of people affected by this chronic and debilitating disease.” IBD Incidence Rates on the Rise Inflammatory bowel disease, or IBD, is a group of disorders that causes the intestines to become inflamed and ulcerated. This is caused by an abnormal response of the body’s immune system.

A recent survey conducted by the CCFC found that 69 percent of people who had IBD when they were young were delayed in completing their post-secondary education. 89 percent who had IBD as a child felt that they could have achieved more at school without their disease. Since there is currently no known cure or cause, young people need strategies to achieve their best long-term health despite their diagnosis.

Unfortunately, a majority of people living with IBD endure many challenges when it comes to their education. With intensive medical treatments, debilitating symptoms and lengthy hospital stays, keeping up with school can become extremely difficult.

“Due to the isolating nature of the disease, people living with IBD too often miss out on the great life experiences many of us take for granted, including completing their education,” says Dr. Kevin Glasgow, CCFC’s Chief Executive Officer. “The AbbVie IBD Scholarship was born of the desire to support students with Crohn’s and colitis and help empower them to continue their education and excel to their fullest potential. Our challenge is to find more youth like Clinton who are speaking out to help reduce the stigma associated with digestive disease. By telling their stories through the AbbVie IBD Scholarship Program, we know we can inspire many others to do the same at a time when advancing public understanding of IBD is needed most.”

The AbbVie IBD Scholarship Program – The A, B, C’s The AbbVie IBD Scholarship Program, in partnership with CCFC, is designed for applicants of any age entering into or attending a Canadian-based post-secondary institution. Applicants must be:

· A legal and permanent resident of Canada;

· Diagnosed with inflammatory bowel disease by a physician;

· Seeking an associate’s, undergraduate, or graduate degree from a Canadian university; college; or enrolled in a trade school educational program;

· Enrolled in or awaiting acceptance from a Canadian-based post-educational institution for the Fall semester of 2013; and

· A student who demonstrates academic aspiration and strives to sustain an optimal level of wellness in spite of their IBD, allowing them to excel to reach their personal and academic goals and inspiring others to do the same. Visit www.ccfc.ca<http://www.ccfc.ca> for full application details.

To date, the CCFC has invested more than $76 million in research, making the foundation a world leader in non-governmental funding of IBD research.

CoolCanucks Review of Brother Canada’s Smart Business Machines ~ All-in-One Multi-Function Center

Thursday, May 30th, 2013

After recently connecting with Brother Canada, I was astonished to see such an extensive lineup of awesome products that they actually sell!

When I thought of Brother Canada, I actually thought of sewing machines right off the hop, and was not oblivious to the fact that they sell phenomenal sewing machines as well as awesome office machines!

One thing that I did not know was that Brother Canada also carries a phenomenal lineup of typewriters, fax machines, labellers, scanners, and even the best Business Smart printers!!

Brother Canada and designer Samantha Pynn are on a mission to help Canadians fall in love with their home offices again and create spaces that are both stylish and functional.  Home offices are often neglected spaces – filled with clutter, mismatched furniture and bad lighting – but it doesn’t have to be that way!  Using some simple design techniques and Brother’s office equipment solutions, like the small and sleek Business Smart inkjet all-in-ones, the home office can be transformed into a welcoming space that is also a productive place to work.

“People who work from home get the luxury of being able to design, style and create their workspace based on their own personal style,” said Samantha Pynn, expert interior decorator, stylist, and host on HGTV Canada. “As we all look to maximize every hour of every day, it’s time to reinvigorate our home offices to create not only stylish spaces but more productive, functional and efficient ones.”

Canadians want to spruce up their home offices. According to a new Vision Critical national survey* commissioned by Brother Canada, 82 per cent of men and women surveyed who work from home say they do invest time, effort and resources into making their home office look stylish and appealing – but 20 per cent are still struggling to create a space that reflects their own style and personality and eight per cent work out of any place at home that is available and convenient at the time.

According to Pynn, there are a few simple techniques we can use to freshen up our home offices, which is important as 40 per cent of people surveyed say they plan on meeting with clients and colleagues at their home office: • Incorporate furniture pieces that seamlessly fit with your existing décor – don’t be limited by traditional office furniture

• Use brightly coloured area rugs to create a defined space that’s all your own

• Brighten up your workspace with table lamps and non-fluorescent over-head lighting

• Use decorative trays to store office essentials and equipment like staplers, tape dispensers, pens and paper to create elegant and functional groupings

With one third (34 per cent) of employed Canadians working from home at least once a month, the survey also discovered these workers’ unique technology needs:

  • 82 per cent of respondents ranked printers as a very important piece of home office equipment – following only laptops (86 per cent) and well ahead of items like smartphones (40 per cent) and tablets (12 per cent)
  • 93 per cent of those polled agree that having the right office equipment and technology is required to be productive

“The survey tells us that people who work from home have really different needs in terms of technology,” adds Pynn.  “One of the greatest ways to create both stylish and productive home offices is with the new Business Smart inkjet all-in-one printers by Brother Canada.  With these all-in-ones you won’t have to give up precious workspace or style as they feature a sleek design that is perfect for smaller, modern workspaces and the home office.”

The Business Smart Series is now available at Staples ($199.99 for the MFC-J4510DW and $249.99 for the MFC-J4710DW), Future Shop ($189.99 for the MFC-J4410DW) and Best Buy ($189.99 for the MFC-J4410DW). The MFC-J4610DW model will also be available at other online retailers.

I was sent an awesome All-in-One Multi-Function Center from Brother Canada’s Smart Business Machines Series and it rocks!!

Brother took a huge step forward with the MFC-J4510DW all-in-one inkjet printer. Where previous models delivered basic features and plain hardware designs that felt far behind the competition, this brand spanking new office friendly setup deserves its “future-proof” descriptor with Web-connected features like cloud printing compatibility by way of Apple AirPrint, a 3.7-inch capacitive touch-screen display, and Wi-Fi connectivity. While its 150-sheet paper input capacity limits its usability for large teams, its fresh and stylish design and very generous 2 year warranty earns this phenomenal printer extremely high marks and a solid recommendation for personal offices and small workgroups all over the world!

I love the look of it, it makes my small home office look so professional and sharp! The Brother Canada’s Smart Business Machines All-in-One Multi-Function Center is the absolute best all-in-one printer that I have EVER owned, no word of a lie.

The MFC-J4510DW BUSINESS WIRELESS COLOUR INKJET 5-IN-1 printer gets a huge thumbs up from CoolCanucks, and I recommend that everyone own one! You won’t be sorry!!

CoolCanucks Blog ~ UV Skinz Review!!

Wednesday, May 29th, 2013

UV Skinz is an extremely important and reputable company that I will NEVER forget. Rhonda (the owner) created the products and this excellent company, sunblock clothing that blocks out harmful UV rays, after losing her 32-year old husband Darren to skin cancer. Rhonda made it her definate life’s mission to raise awareness in any way that she possibly could. UV Skinz is entirely devoted to providing protective swimshirts and pants for everyone, from babies all the way to grown men!

If you have children, extra sensitive skin, or spend a lot of time in the sun, I would highly recommend checking out UV Skinz!

Armed with the extreme passion of protecting their 3 young sons from skin cancer, Rhonda sought out clothing that would provide total UV protection. This led her to start UV Skinz.

Their family story is tragic, but it has lead to prevention of skin cancer for many people.

UV Skinz has an extensive troop of supporters, including Marcia Cross, Tori Spelling, and Matthew McConaughey (and being featured in People Magazine, the New York Times, and Chicago Tribune, and many more!)

UV Skinz comes in an extensive array of colours, sizes, and designs. You just can’t go wrong with these wonderful clothing items! It all begins with prevention, prevention is the key!

UV Skinz are comfortable, fashion-forward swimwear, tees, shorts and hats that are available in a wide variety of sizes, infants through adults. Most  importantly, UV Skinz offers chemical-free sun protection, carrying a UPF rating of 50+, which blocks out over 98% of the sun’s harmful rays.  UV Skinz are also a fabulous alternative for kids and babies with skin allergies and sensitivities to chemicals that many sunscreens contain.

I was sent an awesome hot pink beach cover-up for review and I absolutely love it! As usual, UV Skinz exceeded my expectations and certainly did not disappoint! I give a huge kudos to this company, and absolutely recommend UV Skinz to everyone!! I had the pleasure of being able to review a childrens short sleeve UV Skinz swim shirt, matching board shorts and a reversible bucket hat in size 3T! It is so adorable beyond belief! It’s colours are orange and navy stripes, and very sharp looking!! I definitely recommend that everyone dress their family in UV Skinz. The customer service I received and the delivery time were completely outstanding!!

Buy It!! You can purchase all of these awesome clothes at UV Skinz

CoolCanucks Blog ~ Dr. Lucy’s Yummy gluten free Cookies Review!!

Wednesday, May 15th, 2013

Dr. Lucy’s Yummy gluten free Cookies are made without milk, eggs, peanuts or tree nuts, but you’d never know it—they’re delicious! Now one can enjoy gluten free cookies that taste so good and satisfies the sweet tooth!

Heavenly, gluten-free cookies are hard to find, but Dr. Lucy has found a way to beat that by creating the most delicious, gluten-free, vegan and allergy-free cookies on the market today. This company also sells many delectable flavors that honestly tickles the taste buds!

When Dr. Lucy Gibney learned her child had severe food allergies, she got down to some serious medical research — in the kitchen. Today, Lucy’s cookies stand as delicious proof that no one should have to sacrifice tasty treats because of their dietary concerns.

“Our Quality Assurance Program provides delicious treats for you and your family while doing everything we can to safeguard you from these specific allergens: gluten, milk, eggs, peanuts and tree nuts.”

With Dr. Lucy’s certifications for gluten-free, kosher and vegan products – you’re certain to find the perfect treat everytime!!

These cookies come in many tantilating flavors: Sugar Cookie, Cinnamon Thin, Oatmeal Cookie, Chocolate Chip Cookie, Maple Bliss, Ginger Snap, Holiday Sugars and Chocolate Mint! I also noticed a delightful snack on their website that is new to me, Gluten-free Chocolate Brownie Cakes! Oh they look so yummy!!!

All the cookies are made from a similar cookie “base” that consists of the in-house flour blend (garbanzo, potato starch, gluten-free oat, tapioca, sorghum and fava), evaporated cane juice, soy milk, several oils (palm fruit, soybean, canola and olive), filtered water, flavoring and citric acid from corn, crushed soybeans, soy lecithin, non-dairy lactic acid, beta carotene, baking powder, baking soda, salt, xanthan gum, calcium carbonate, annatto extract color, sodium carboxymethylcellulose, and methylcellulose.

Dr. Lucy’s cookies website describes the cookies as “crispy, crunchy,” and they hit the nail directly on the head. There is not a chewy bit to be found in these cookies. They’re seriously crunchy throughout. If you like your cookies crunchy, you’ll love these from the first bite to the last bite (which is often one and the same bite… since the cookies are pretty tiny, you can pop a whole cookie in your mouth all at once) and not even feel guilty!!

I received a couple of boxes of these amazing cookies. The mouthwatering flavors sent to me were Cinnamon Thin and Ginger Snap. They were extremely tasty and enjoyed by the entire household. No one complained, and even walked back for seconds. Melyssa is a really picky eater, and so when I am sent food or drink items to review, they must pass her taste test first. She gave Dr. Lucy’s Yummy gluten free Cookies a very big thumbs up, and continued to snack on them throughout the course of the evening. CoolCanucks Blog ~ Thermacell Mosquito Area Repellent Patio Lantern Review

Saturday, May 11th, 2013

Now that summer is here, most of us spend a lot of time outdoors whether it’s in the warm sunshine, or sitting under a porch or an awning while it’s raining.

Along with summer comes those pesky bugs, namely mosquitoes!!

I am one of those people who get’s picked on and bitten the most by those damn mosquitoes, I am unsure of why they love me so much, but they swarm around me no matter what! I have even been out at camp in the bush picking blueberries and those darn things have bitten through my track pants and t-shirt!

I was convinced that there would never be a cure-all, but thanks to the ThermaCELL Mosquito Patio Lantern — the mosquitoes have diminished!!

Not only are mosquitoes bothersome, one must also worry about the dreaded West Nile Virus!

West Nile virus is a disease spread by mosquitoes.

The West Nile virus is a type of virus known as a flavivirus. Researchers believe West Nile virus is spread when a mosquito bites an infected bird and then bites a person.

Although many people are bitten by mosquitoes that carry West Nile virus, most do not know they’ve been exposed. Few people develop severe disease or even notice any symptoms at all.

Risk factors for developing a more severe form of West Nile virus include:

•Conditions that weaken the immune system, such as HIV, organ transplants, and recent chemotherapy

•Older or very young age

•Pregnancy

West Nile virus may also be spread through blood transfusions and organ transplants. It is possible for an infected mother to spread the virus to her child through breast milk.

Symptoms

Mild disease, generally called West Nile fever, may cause some or all of the following symptoms:

•Abdominal pain

•Diarrhea

•Fever

•Headache

•Lack of appetite

•Muscle aches

•Nausea

•Rash

•Sore throat

•Swollen lymph nodes

•Vomiting

These symptoms usually last for 3 — 6 days.

More severe forms of disease, which can be life threatening, may be called West Nile encephalitis or West Nile meningitis, depending on what part of the body is affected.

This baby would make an unbelievable Father’s Day Gift for dad and makes a great repellent while he’s laying on the hammock!

It’s effective at repelling black flies, mosquitoes, and other flying nuisances. When you’re choosing mosquito lamps or bug repellent lights for your patio, consider the benefits of this dual-function outdoor lantern bugs hate.

  • Effective within a 15 x15-foot area, the size of an average patio or deck
  • Easy to use — no candle or open flame
  • Comfortable: No smelly lotions, sprays, or oils
  • Convenient: Attractive size, portable, lightweight

If you’re going to be outside you need a Thermacell Mosquito Area Repellent Patio Lantern. All I can say is wow. This thing is amazing! I took it out on our first trip to the cottage this year and it’s been a really warm spring where the black flies were all over the place. I turned this thing on and within 5 minutes there was not one fly in sight. UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!!! I hate mosquito’s as well, and their were none in sight while this device was on! I’m really impressed, and so happy that I was sent one for review! My husband said that this was a God-send, and he told me that we need a few more for camp, as well as for when he goes on fishing and his yearly hunting trips! You can purchase these babies right at the ThermaCELL.com website, as well as at a lot of the big box stores such as Canadian Tire, Home Depot, Walmart, and even on Amazon.com!

I definitely give the Thermacell Mosquito Area Repellent Patio Lantern device a huge thumbs up, and absolutely recommend that everyone own a handful of these, they are that phenomenal!

Their customer service skills as well as their delivery time were also beyond outstanding!!

CoolCanucks Blog ~ FunBites Review!!

Saturday, May 11th, 2013

Don’t you wish that there was such a group called Picky-Eaters Anonymous? They have groups for everything else, so why not?

Yes I happen to know a lot of kiddies who are just that, picky eaters!!

Bobbie Rhoads knows exactly what it’s like to be the mommy of a picky eater, so that is how FunBites was invented! As a mother with 2 daughters, the oldest one was not a problem when it came to the food category, she enjoyed almost everything she was given. Her younger daughter on the other hand was a different story; a picky eater from the get go! FunBites instantly solved the picky eater dilemma!

“FunBites creates exciting bite-sized magic featuring a cutter that quickly cuts food into small bites, curved blades that make cutting simple and a matching popper that instantly pops! out fun-shaped bite-sized pieces — so hands are clean, food is untouched. FunBites is BPA free and  made in the USA of a strong plastic that bridges plastic and metal… It’s no cookie cutter; it’s tough!  It works on any kid-friendly food from pancakes, waffles, cheese to quesadillas, deli sandwiches and turkey burgers and more!”

See how they work in this awesome video:

I was sent some of these phenomenal FunBites to review, and this time they were in Heart Shapes! My nieces had a lot of fun helping me create wonderful masterpieces out of food, and it really kept them occupied and interested! These will solve your picky eater problems as well! They also work great when cutting out sandwiches for school lunches, and there is no more half sandwiches left in their lunch bags after school!

FunBites come in 2 styles, Cube it! which makes 12 cube shaped bites, and Luv it! which makes a big heart of 8 geometric shaped bites plus 2 bite size hearts. FunBites are BPA free and top-rack dishwasher safe, and are super easy to use.  Choose your food, press down with the cutting portion and the push it out using the popper!  The blades work on any surface and are not sharp enough to harm little fingers if they handle it! These are recommended for ages 3–10.

And even better? A portion of the proceeds from FunBites goes to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

I give FunBites a huge thumbs up, and recommend that every mother of younger children have a set of FunBites in their home!

Buy It!! Available online at FunBites, as well as http://www.tinywiggles.com/ which is in Canada!

CoolCanucks Blog ~ Baby Butz Cream Review!!

Friday, May 10th, 2013

Baby Butz 100% natural, 100% guaranteed.

Why force your child to suffer even worse diaper rash because of creams that contain toxic chemicals and alcohol?

Baby Butz is the ONLY diaper cream in Canada stamped with the Health Canada Natural Health Product number.

Baby Butz cream is made with their PFP (Proprietary  Formulation Process) and the following natural ingredients:

♥Zinc Oxide ♥Lanolin ♥Petrolatum (Petroleum jelly) ♥Starch

Baby Butz does not include perfume, alcohol or chemicals which rocks!!

Tons of parents go through that annoying phase of baby’s skin conditions and it can be awful frustrating finding just the right product to cure these conditions.

Diaper rashes tend to be the most bothersome issues for babies because they occur in extremely sensitive areas and are often very painful if left untreated. Just by the looks of these unfortunate diaper rashes leaves a parent crushed at the thought of what their poor little one must be feeling, and knowing that they are in pain hurts a parent so badly.

I just recently came across a Canadian-based company that carries a fantastic diaper rash cream that left me wanting to know more. Baby Butz is a mom-founded company and was created because a caring mom saw a need for a diaper rash cream that was clear of perfumes, chemicals and toxins!

See more about this awesome product here on this video!

Demitri was truly blessed with having such a phenomenal mommy who loves him unconditionally! This story tugs at my heart, that’s for sure!!

Baby Butz Cream is 100% natural and 100% guaranteed. The ingredient list is: Zinc Oxide, Lanolin, Petrolatum, Starch. The texture of this cream is very thick and dense which means you need very little. After all, a little goes a long way! :)

Baby Butz Cream has already had tons of testimonials … especially from Neonatal nurses in the Calgary NICUs that are buying the cream and using it on the preemies! Also, The Winnipeg Hospital NICU is also using it as well on the preemies to name just a few!!

A blurb from the creator of Baby Butz Cream:

“I have been allowed to put my miracle cream into 8 of their Manitoba locations as a “test”.

If Baby Butz cream sells well during this test phase… it will be considered for placement in all the other Shoppers Drug Marts across Canada!

What does this mean to me…it’s a dream come true… Shoppers Drug Mart is the largest drug store chain in Canada…it reaches across all the Provinces and hopefully Baby Butz cream will be available to many more people…especially for the babies that truly need this product.

As an incentive to making your next purchase of Baby Butz cream from Shoppers Drug Mart…I am going to hold a CONTEST!  (I am sorry but this will only be for Manitoba residents for now).

Buy your next Baby Butz cream at one of the eight Shoppers Drug Mart locations listed below and then send in your receipt for a chance to win a Mom + Baby gift basket worth over $100.00. http://a.pgtb.me/WZnRKq

I am putting all the goodies together and I will make sure you won’t be disappointed.

Everyone wins with a contest like this!   Now go clean off those shelves, please!”
