Friday is Free at the Honda Indy Toronto in Support of Make-A-Wish® Canada
Ontario Honda Dealers Association continues to help make children’s magical wishes come true
For the third year in a row, the Ontario Honda Dealers Association (OHDA) will pay the cost of admission for fans to enjoy the speed and spectacle of the Honda Indy Toronto on Friday, July 6. With generous support from fans, Honda Canada and the OHDA have raised more than $200,000 for Make-A-Wish®during the previous two seasons, helping to make the wishes of children who are living with a life-threatening medical condition come true.
“We’re excited to once again partner with Make-A-Wish for Free Friday at the Honda Indy Toronto,” said Kevin Pearson, president of the OHDA. “We hope fans enjoy the Indy experience and donate generously to help make wishes come true for children across Canada.”
In lieu of admission, and to take part in various onsite games and activities, Free Friday attendees are encouraged to donate to Make-A-Wish. All donations will once again be matched dollar-for-dollar by Honda Canada. With support from organizations like Honda Canada and the OHDA, Make-A-Wish grants over 400 wishes a year through eight regional chapters across the country.
“Honda has been a very generous supporter of our magical wish granting efforts the past two years,” said Jennifer Klotz-Ritter, CEO, Make-A-Wish Canada. “We are thrilled to be part of the Honda Indy Toronto again.”
The Honda Indy Toronto, which runs July 6–8, marks the 10th race of the 2012 IZOD IndyCar Series season and 26 years of racing on the streets of Toronto. On Free Friday, there is no regular reserved seating, so attendees can access all grandstands and choose their seats on a first-come/first-served basis. Throughout the day, attendees can explore the exclusive IZOD IndyCar Series Paddock where the new DW12 IndyCars will be on display while not on the track.
“We love Free Friday because it supports an important cause and it provides the public with a great chance, and the extra incentive, to experience the excitement of IndyCar racing,” said Charlie Johnstone, vice president and general manager of the Honda Indy Toronto. “It’s hard not to become a fan after experiencing the thrill of racing and all that the Honda Indy has to offer.”
About the Ontario Honda Dealers Association:

CoolCanucks Review of the Dyson DC35 Digital Slim Vacuum for Dad ~ Just in time for Father’s Day!!
Wednesday, May 30th, 2012
Ok readers. You all know that I am absolutely infatuated with Dyson Canada, and their phenomenal vacuums. I cannot tell you enough that Dyson sells the very best vacuums in the world, period.
The suction on these Dyson’s are totally amazing and they pick up basically anything on any floor whether it is ceramic, vinyl, carpet or hardwood! I have yet to have someone disagree with me about my opinion of Dyson Canada. They are, in my own personal opinion, the best vacuums that have ever been invented!!
Dyson is the most recognized and most popular brand of vacuums across the world. When one mentions vacuum cleaners, Dyson immediately comes to mind.
It’s definitely not a secret that Dyson produces and sells stand-out vacuum cleaners both upright and canister style. Dyson aims to continue their successful line of vacuums, and just recently I was able to review their awesome Dyson DC35 Digital Slim Vacuum!
Father’s Day (June 17, 2012) is fast approaching and the search for the perfect gift is on. By purchasing the new Dyson DC35 Digital Slim Vacuum for Dad, you will honestly make his life a whole lot simpler!!
The DC35 (also known as the Digital Slim) is Dyson’s latest handheld vacuum cleaner for multi-floor with a detachable long-reach wand and a motorized cleaner head.
The Dyson DC35 is also bag-less. All dust and dirt can be seen inside a transparent canister and with a press of a button, you can easily open the canister to dump all of that crap right into the garbage.
The power-efficient Dyson digital motor makes this cordless vacuum amazingly powerful!!
The Dyson DC35 Digital Slim Vacuum is a great pet hair picker upper, extremely convenient to store, is bag-less, cordless, has enough suction that a single-pass does the job, it has a no slip grip, and it is very easy to charge.
As you know, it’s always difficult finding dad something for Father’s Day that he does not already have. But now that the Dyson DC35 Digital Slim Vacuum for Dad has arrived, it’s here just in time for Father’s Day! This is the best Father’s Day gift by far!
“Dyson DC35 Multi floor is a Dyson Digital Slim™ cordless vacuum cleaner for multiple floor types– carpet, ceramic, vinyl and wood.
It features a detachable long-reach wand and a motorized cleaner head. Powered by the Dyson digital motor, it is the most powerful lightweight cordless vacuum.“
Father’s love simple and hate having to meddle with everything. The simpler, the better! This would be the perfect gift for dad this Father’s Day 2012!!
“Father’s Day. Make dad’s life easier (and cleaner) with the ultimate guy gift — Dyson DC35 Digital Slim cordless Vacuum cleaner.
Unlike traditional cordless vacuums that have a poor battery life, no pick up and are difficult to use — the Dyson DC35 Digital Slim has been engineered for maximum suction. In fact, it’s the most powerful cordless handheld.
Its motorized head uses carbon filaments to remove fine dust from hard surfaces any nylon brushes to remove dirt from carpets. The detachable long reach wand reaches up top, into awkward gaps and down below.”
The Dyson DC35 Digital Slim:
•Boasts a lightweight versatile design that quickly converts to a handheld (so it’s 2-in-1) to easily clean the car, boat, and anywhere in between
•Energy Star battery charger with a fade-free lithium-ion battery, which charges 3 times faster
•Click-in recharging station that hangs vertically to prevent clutter and save space in the man cave
As always, the Dyson DC35 Digital Slim Vacuum sucks dust and dirt like you just wouldn’t believe. I always boast about the Dyson vacuum cleaner to my friends. They are somewhat pricey, but honestly worth every single penny. I’m always amazed how much dust and dirt it collects from my carpet, hardwood floors, and area rugs.
I am sold on anything Dyson Canada carries, and honestly recommend Dyson to everyone out there. Believe me, you won’t be sorry!
The Dyson DC35 Digital Slim Vacuum (made just for Dad) can be found at many retailers at dyson.com and major Canadian retailers: Future Shop, Best Buy, The Bay, Home Outfitters, Sears, Canadian Tire, The Brick, Walmart, Home Depot, and independent retailers across Canada.

CoolCanucks Blog Contest ~ Caprina By Canus Body Lotion And Hand Soap Review & Giveaway!!
Wednesday, May 30th, 2012
Canus is a wonderful Canadian company that offers a wide range of body products for the entire family. What is so different about Canus compared to many other body product companies is that their products are made with fresh goat’s milk. All of Canus’ soaps and body washes are phosphate free and biodegradable. Their body lotions contain no parabens. Their entire line of products can very conveniently be purchased at major retailers, grocery stores and pharmacies near you.
Fresh Goat’s milk:
Hydrates, Regenerates
and Protects
Goat’s milk has unique properties which are acclaimed across the world. Since its molecular structure is simple and short, it facilitates the cream’s absorption by the skin, contributing to a deep and extended hydration. It enables the restructuration of the hydrolipidic film giving it back its suppleness and its elasticity
I have found since entering my 40’s my skin does not stay as soft or supple as it did in my younger years. Living in Canada with the dry, cold winters does not do much to help your skin either. I have learned that you need great products keep your skin healthy and glowing. When Canus offered to let me try out a few of the Fresh Goat’s Milk products I totally jumped at the chance. I tested the original formula, olive and wheat protein, shea butter and orchid oil in both the body lotion and the hand soap.
Normally I do not use a bar soap because the majority leave my skin feeling very dry, I opt for liquid soaps instead. After using the Caprina soaps for only a few short weeks I am totally sold because my skin feels so soft after using it. I have very dry, cracked skin on my elbows and my hands always feel so dehydrated and flaky. I was looking forward to trying out the Caprina body lotions to see if it would work on those two major problem areas. The body lotions were not greasy or oily and left my skin feeling perfectly moisturized and hydrated all day long. I did not have to keep applying the body lotion which means a little goes a long way….and who does not want to get the most for their money! I am happy to report that this is the best body lotion and hand soap that I have used in a very long time. I can’t wait to go to my local retailer so I can purchase a few of the other Caprina Fresh Goat’s Milk products and try them out as well.
Make sure you check out their entire range of products including; Moisturizing Clay Masks, BodyWash, Foaming Milk Bath, Antibacterial Liquid Hand Soap, Lip Balm and Ultra Moisturizing Wipes to name just a few. You can also get Caprina Fresh Goat’s Milk products on Well.ca, the pricing is reasonable with the Caprina by Canus Fresh Goat’s Milk Body Lotion in the 75ml (the size I reviewed) for only 4.39 each and the Caprina By Canus Goat’s Milk Soap for only 1.99 each. You can’t go wrong with the quality of this product or the price!
~~I received product for review. The opinions within this post are of my own and I was not influenced in any way. Please do your own research before purchasing products. Your opinions and results may differ from mine.~~
Buy It!! Purchase at your local retailer, grocery store or pharmacy.
Win It!! Enter my sweepstakes giveaway below for a chance to win the same items that I reviewed (4 Caprina Body Lotions (75ml) and 4 Caprina Hand Soaps)! Open to Canadian residents.

CCFC & Abbott Scholarship Program in Support of Students Living with IBD!!
Tuesday, May 29th, 2012
Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of Canada and Abbott Announce new IBD Initiative in Support of Students
New Scholarship Program Empowers Students with IBD
A recent survey of Canadians living with or affected by inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), carried out by the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of Canada (CCFC), found that a majority of youth feel that they could have achieved more at school if they did not have the disease. Nearly 70 percent of respondents were delayed in completing their post-secondary education due to their illness.
Unfortunately, a majority of IBD patients endure many challenges when it comes to their education. With intensive medical treatments, debilitating symptoms and lengthy hospital stays, keeping up with school can become extremely difficult.
Inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis) causes intestinal tissue to become inflamed, form sores and bleed easily. Patients suffer from symptoms including abdominal pain, cramping, fatigue and diarrhea that is often urgent and unexpected.
- During an active flare-up of the disease, 86 per cent of sufferers have more than five bowel movements or “false urges” a day, and 14 per cent of those have more than 20 per day;
- During an active flare-up of the disease, 44 per cent of sufferers described their pain as agonizing and debilitating or steady pain that lasts for hours;
- 66 per cent experienced depression and anxiety during an active flare of their disease.*
To support Canadian students living with IBD, empower them and to raise awareness about this chronic disease, CCFC and Abbott Canada are launching the new Abbott IBD Scholarship Program, designed to help encourage students to live well with IBD so that they can excel at their personal and academic goals.
Through an unrestricted educational grant by Abbott in Canada, CCFC will extend seven one-time scholarships of up to $5,000 CAN to students living with IBD who are entering into or currently attending a post-secondary educational institution. Students of all ages are welcome to apply and the scholarship can be used for any Canadian post-secondary institution.
“The Abbott IBD Scholarship Program supports students with Crohn’s and colitis during a critical time in their lives, helping ensure their disease doesn’t prevent them from achieving their full potential,” says Dr. Kevin Glasgow, CCFC’s Chief Executive Officer.
“Due to the isolating nature of the disease, people living with IBD too often miss out on the great life experiences many of us take for granted, including completing their education. While the search for a cure continues, we believe this partnership with Abbott will open many doors, and help lift some of the burden of living with IBD,” he added.
“We are very pleased to be partnering with the CCFC on this important initiative. Enabling and encouraging those living with IBD to get back to what is important in their lives, like continuing their education, is essential in taking charge of their illness and not letting it stop them,” adds Felipe Pastrana, General Manager, Proprietary Pharmaceuticals, Abbott Canada.
The Abbott IBD Scholarship Program – The A, B, C’s
The Abbott IBD Scholarship Program, in support of CCFC, is designed for applicants of any age entering into or attending a Canadian-based post-secondary institution. Applicants must be:
- A legal and permanent resident of Canada
- Diagnosed with inflammatory bowel disease by a physician
- Seeking an associate’s, undergraduate, or graduate degree or enrolled in a trade school educational program
- A student who demonstrates academic ambition and embraces a way of life that goes above and beyond the boundaries of living with Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis
- Enrolled in or awaiting acceptance from a Canadian-based post– secondary institution for fall semester of 2012
Visit www.ccfc.ca for full applications details.
About CCFC
- The Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of Canada is a volunteer-based registered charity dedicated to finding the cure for Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, commonly referred to as inflammatory bowel disease.
- The Foundation is committed to educating IBD patients, their families, health professionals and the general public about the diseases.
- Since its founding, CCFC has invested more than $71 million in IBD research, making the foundation a world leader in non-governmental funding of IBD research

Starting today, fans can get a sneak preview at Facebook.com/KFCCanada
NEWLY DISCOVERED COLONEL SANDERS AUTOBIOGRAPHY WITH PERSONAL RECIPES LAUNCHED EXCLUSIVELY ON FACEBOOK® FOR FREE TO MILLIONS OF KFC FANS
***
KFC Canada Facebook Fans Can Access Exclusive Content and Recipes for Free Beginning Today;
Free Download of Complete Autobiography & Cookbook Begins Monday, June 4
Beginning today, fans of KFC’s Facebook® Pages around the world can access exclusive content for free from the soon-to-be-released book, “Colonel Harland Sanders: The Autobiography of the Original Celebrity Chef.”
The original manuscript, written by the Colonel himself in 1966 and discovered by accident more than 40 years later, is being launched exclusively on Facebook. The entire book can be downloaded for free at Facebook.com/KFCCanada beginning Monday, June 4. It is not available in book stores or via online book sellers.
“What’s most amazing about the book is that while it was written nearly a half-century ago, both the insightful life lessons and the delicious recipes remain relevant today,” explains Tatiana Carrascal, Senior Marketing Director, KFC Canada. “Because of that, our goal is to share the autobiography with as many people as possible, free of charge. We couldn’t think of a better way to do that than via Facebook.”
Free content available beginning today includes: a Foreword written by KFC’s first franchisee Pete Harman, an introduction written by Colonel Sanders, and the first chapter. Also available are four recipes selected from among the 33 never-before-seen recipes featured in the book: Potato Pancakes, The Colonel’s Special Omelet, Hush Puppies, and Upside-Down Peach Cobbler.
The autobiography provides an authentic look into the life of one of the world’s legendary entrepreneurs and is centered on his passion for food, hard work and the importance of home-style country cooking.
“The only thing keeping this book from being a best-seller is that we’re not selling them,” Carrascal said of the free download.
Full Autobiography and Cookbook Available June 4
In November, 2011, KFC announced that the manuscript had been discovered in the company’s archives and it quickly made worldwide news. The world was fascinated by the idea that the man who perfected one of the world’s most famous recipes had also penned a book featuring his life story and some of his favorite recipes.
The book contains 33 never-before-published recipes, dozens of rare historic photos and countless amazing stories told firsthand by the man who lived those stories. Beginning Monday, June 4, the entire book can be downloaded free of charge, but only via KFC’s Facebook Page.
For more information about “The Autobiography of the Original Celebrity Chef,” visit Facebook.com/KFCCanada.
About KFC

About Colonel Sanders
The Kentucky Fried Chicken concept was pioneered by Colonel Harland Sanders (1890–1980), whose cooking career began at age six. Sanders held jobs ranging from streetcar conductor to insurance salesman, but his cooking skills were a constant throughout his life. In 1930, Sanders operated a service station in Corbin, Ky., and filled the stomachs of hungry travelers who stopped in to fill up their gas tanks. Sanders soon moved his restaurant across the street when he could no longer keep up with the demand from travelers who he had been feeding at his kitchen table. In 1935, the Kentucky Governor made Sanders an honorary Kentucky Colonel for his contributions to the state’s cuisine. Over the next decade, the Colonel perfected his secret blend of 11 herbs and spices and the basic cooking technique still used at KFC today. When Sanders was 65, a new interstate highway forced the closure of his restaurant and he was left with only his recipe for fried chicken and a $105 Social Security check. The Colonel hit the road and struck handshake deals with restaurant owners who agreed to sell his fried chicken. What began as a dream fueled by the Original Recipe, a no-quit attitude and a Social Security check grew into the world’s largest chicken restaurant chain. Until he passed away in 1980 at the age of 90, the Colonel still traveled 250,000 miles a year visiting KFC restaurants around the world.

CoolCanucks Blog Contest ~ Dymo LabelManager 160 Review & Giveaway!!
Tuesday, May 29th, 2012
Running a home is just like running a business. If we don’t stay organized, precious time is wasted and then we don’t have time to spend on the things we really enjoy in life.
Making labels to keep things organized is now easy on the fingers – and the wallet — with the DYMO® LabelManager® 160 handheld label maker.
I am often left with an array of file folders in our filing cabinet, and having to sort through every bill or important paper is quite annoying to say the least. Hubs and I are also continually fighting over who’s huge coffee mug is who’s as they are both the same. With the Dymo LabelManager 160, our problems have now been solved!! The Dymo LabelManager 160 has definitely become my very favorite organization tool! This is the best labelmaker that I have ever tried! Absolutely any storage box in my home that isn’t clear gets labeled. Same applies to every file folder in my filing cabinet, the recycling bins, containers in the bathroom, and hundreds of other items in my home.
Until I had one, I didn’t know what I was missing. Unfortunately, there isn’t much more to say about the labelmaker because it is such a straightforward device. Maybe its simplicity has something to do with why it’s so high on my list of favorite organization tools.
“Pick up a portable, affordable DYMO® LabelManager™ 160 label maker – and start making your mark on the world!

CoolCanucks Blog Contest ~ 2mi.ca Chalk Ink Review & Giveaway!!
Monday, May 28th, 2012
Have you ever found yourself searching for that one of a kind item for a person on your gift giving list? Do you want the perfect accessories for you your office or home workspace? Would you like unique products for your kitchen or for entertaining? If you answered yes to any of these then 2mi.ca is the place for you. 2mi.ca is a very cool online webshop that offers unique products for the kitchen, home and office.
I had the opportunity to try out a fantastic new product that they just started carrying recently called Chalk Ink. They are wet wipe markers that are ideal for chalkboards, mirrors, plastics, ceramics and glass windows.
“Chalk Ink ® is the highest quality chalk marker on the planet. Don’t be fooled by lesser quality imitations, Chalk Ink ® is the authority. It works like a paint pen, yet looks like chalk. No dust, no smearing once dry. It comes off with water. Chalk Ink ® offers the widest selection of colors and packs. They are non-toxic and food safe. 100% satisfaction guaranteed.”
My son and I had so much playing around with the markers. We started off with the big mirror in my bedroom and created to our hearts content! Our art was amazing and with just a cloth and some water it cleaned right up! We moved on to my son’s room next and he has this awesome chalk decal on his wall of a drum set and we decided to give that a bit of colour. We wrote his name and put on a bunch of really cool designs and it is now a work of art. All the colours we received are so vibrant and this set was so easy to use and it is great to know that it cleans up just as easily when you are done with it or if you need to make a correction on your creation.
These are the best markers I have ever used and I am very impressed with all that you are able to do with them. Once the Chalk Ink has dried on the surface you apply it to, it does not rub off or smear the same way that chalk would. These would be perfect any type of signs for home or work or even to decorate those plain ceramic pots that you have sitting around. They are great for kids, adults and I total recommend them!
~~I received product for review. The opinions within this post are of my own and I was not influenced in any way. Please do your own research before purchasing products. Your opinions and results may differ from mine.~~
Buy It~ You can purchase your very own Earthy Set of 8 Chalk Ink at 2mi.ca
